My Works

How this page is going to work is that I am going to make different sections for the works I am working on. That way it will separate them and make it easier to see how I am progressing on them. Please comment, this will help me become a better writer.

The Vampira ©

The Vampira is a book that I am working on with a friend. This means there will be two points of views. One is Cat Black and Yuna Kahoma. Cat Black is an Irish orphan living on the streets when she gets captured by guards after she is caught stealing a coin purse from an English Lord. She is thrown into a prison cell  where she meets Yuna Kahoma. Yuna is from Japan and is a Dog Demon. She despises humans with a vengeance. Long story short Yuna thinks humans are a waste of space. Not long after these two meet a cannon ball busts the wall apart and vampires come streaming in. They kidnap Cat and take her to their ship. Yuna curious about these events follows them unto the ship. Cat awakens on the ship and soon learns who her captures are. Not waiting to be turned into a vampire she struggles to escape, but is caught. This is when we are intoduced to the Cloak, a man hiding underneath a black cloak. No one knows his name, all they know is he is not to be messed with. He is the one that turns Cat. He makes her captain of the ship Vampira. Fast forward a 100 years to in-which their real journey begins.
Sorry about the long into, that is really summing up what The Vampira is. Can't go into anymore detail. I want you to surprised on what the rest of the story will bring.
Here is a taste of The Vampira. Love to your thoughts!

This is in Cat's point of view. She is my character.

Exert from The Vampira, Life of Forever Night ©

The waxing moon rose above the horizon of the endless sea. It was a wonderful sight to see, but I longed to see the sun set. For one hundred years all I saw was night. It was all thanks to that horrid man. It was his fault that I was still here. I should have been dead by now, but no my life is taken over by night and the unquenching thirst for blood. I hated it! I should have listened to my mother as she told me with her dying breath to leave Ireland, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t leave the land where she once lived. Now I am off my homeland because of him. My life has been filled with searching for him after that fateful night. The night I took my last breath as a mortal and became a creature of the night.
~
My eyes opened to a dimly lit room. There was a ringing in my head and my eyes strained to stay open. “Oh me head.” I groaned. I sat up from a dingy bed and looked around.
“Well you were near the impact of a cannon ball. No surprise that you are feeling some form of discomfort.” Yuna’s harsh voice spoke.
   “Where are we?”
“On a cursed ship filled with vampires.”
“Vampires!” I cried. A faint memory filled my mind. It was the last time I saw my mother before plague took her.
“Yes. Nasty beings. There are a few things that I hate in this lowly world, humans and vampires. If given the choice as to whom I will live with forever, it will be humans. At least they die.”
   “So morbid.”
“So?” She looked at her long nails. In the light I got a better look at her. She looked to be Orient. I had only heard about them from traveling sailors in pubs. She had a strange beauty, but it was beauty none the less.
She looked at me with dark blue eyes. “What are you staring at?”
“Nothing.” I said as the last memory of my mother overtook my mind. My mother’s beautiful dark red hair was drenched in sweat. Her green eyes were losing its light. “Cat, please listen to what I have to say. My life is at an end and I fear what is to come of you. You have a light in you that most lose. You’re always there in time of need. Leave this beautiful land. I should have done it years ago, but I couldn’t do it. Now that I am leaving this world I regret that I didn’t”
“Shh. Mother don’t speak of that.” I said tearfully.
   “Promise me you will leave.”
   “Why?”
“There is a cloaked man that wished to do you harm. He has a horrible dream that can only come true if he finds you. If he does, you must stop at nothing to keep that dream from being realized.”
“Many people wear cloaks, how will I know him?”
“Vampires. Vampires will give him away, because he is one. If he catches you…” she coughed up blood. I knew then that her life was ending.
“What mother?” I gently said as I held her clammy hand.
“You will become a vampire yourself if you are caught.”
   “A vampire!” I gasped.
“Leave Ireland and never return. It is here that he will find you.” Her eyes began to close. “My little Cat, please be safe. Remember what I taught you. It will come in handy one day. You are replacing me in this eternal war against evil. Whatever you do, do not let the darkness consume you. That is when you will truly be lost. I love you.” She whispered with her last breath and she became still.
“Mother no!” I cried as I held her in my arms.
I came out of the memory and wiped the tears that began to fall down my face. That was three years ago and I didn’t leave like she told too. “I am sorry mother.” I whispered. “Please forgive me.”
“What are you crying about?” Yuna stated.
   “None of your concern.”
Her eyes widen a little as my tone of voice had changed. “Humans.” She huffed. “They never cease to amaze me.” She huffed. “
Footsteps echoed throughout the brig. A big tall man with white hair appeared at the cell door. “Captain wishes for the girl to be brought up.” His blue eyes had a glow to them. I was surprised to see that there was sadness in them.
“I may not be a fan of humans, but I cannot allow what is about to transpire.” Yuna growled.
“Captain knew you would be a problem so he sent some company to keep you busy.” He opened the door and Yuan lunged at him. He merely dodged it and grabbed me. “She is all yours.” He carried me out and five vampires filed into the cell where Yuna was ready to pounce.
I began to scream and kick. “Let me go!”
He held me tighter. “I am so sorry.” He said as we went up the stairs and into the night.
Shocked I stopped fighting. “What did you say?”
“I am going to put you down. When I do, make a break for it. Jump off the ship and swim away as quickly as possible. The sun will rise in thirty minutes. If you can keep them from catching you, you will be safe.”
It was then that I realized that all the other vampires had red eyes. I knew then that this vampire was on my side. But why? “Here is there girl you requested Captain.” He put me down.
“Thank you Red Hawk. Bring her to me.” I looked up and saw a man dressed in a black cloak. This must be the man my mother warned me about.
In a flash I threw off Red Hawk’s hands and bolted for the edge of the ship. I reached the railing and threw myself over it. “Yes!” I thought as I head to the water. “I am free.” Just as I was about to breached the surface a cold hand grabbed my arm and threw me back unto the ship. I landed on the deck with a hard hit.
I groaned in pain as the cloaked man looked down on me. “Don’t think that I didn’t know what you were up to Red Hawk.” The man hissed and with the flick of his hand, Red Hawk was thrown against a wooden beam. “Now watch me fulfill part of my plan.” He reached down with a gloved hand and grabbed me by the throat. He pinned me against the main beam of the ship. His hood came off and I saw a man with red eyes that looked like Hell. His skin was very pale and his black hair didn’t help with the paleness. “I haven’t eaten in days in anticipation for this moment. Your mother protected you from me, but now she is not here.” He opened his mouth and two sharp, white fangs appeared. The stories I heard of vampires got one thing right. Their fangs were truly terrifying.
I closed my eyes as his mouth neared my throat. I could feel the points break against my skin. “STOP!” Yuna’s voice rang in the night. I opened my eyes and what I saw sent a chill down my spine. Yuna had a black aura surrounding her. Her blue eyes were black as night and her nails were even longer and were black.
“I knew you were going to intrude demon. I had someone planned to keep you company should you make it to the deck before I could complete my plan. Dragon why don’t you keep her company. I hate for her to be left out.”
“Aye Captain.” A deep voice spoke. Another person of the Orient appeared in front of Yuna.
Yuna in surprise stepped back. “You!” She hissed. “I thought you were dead, traitor.”
‘You forget that demons are hard to kill?”
“If it is done properly and from what I can see I need to take care of that.” She reached out at him with her nails. He dodged it and knocked her against a wall.

“Now, where was I?” The man turned back to me. “I had a little taste and I am wanting more.” He quickly bit into my neck. The pain was horrible and feeling of my blood being drained was sickening. I knew that I was about to become a soulless being when the man pulled out his sword. I prayed to the Tuth De Danaan to give me strength to save my soul. With my weak hand I reached for the one thing I had left of my mother. My hand came in contact of a simply ruby on a gold chain. Saor in Aisce Mo Soul as an dorchadais. Cuir sé isteach ar Haven sábháilte. I said with my dying breath. I was then stabbed in the heart with his sword and everything went black...
The next one will be in Yuna's point of view. Hope you enjoyed the little taste.

The Night They Came ©

April 30, 2016

The Night They Came is a work in progress. I had this idea a few years ago. Sadly, I haven't been working on it that often. It has the potential to be a really good book. The Night They Came is set in our world, around this day and age. It is a Post- Apocalyptic type setting, without all that mayhem of the world being destroyed by nukes or those type of things. You can say it could be like what a zombie apocalypse would be like. Instead of zombies is it a species of werewolves. Yes there will be vampires in it, but not very prominent. As a writer, I feel it is a good idea to explore other areas in writing, than on one thing. I have decided one of those avenues will be werewolves.
As I was coming up with outline I didn't want to use the traditional werewolf. (You can see I also did this in Blackheart Curse) I wanted a species of werewolf that I could claim as my own. None of that cliche' stuff. I went online and searched for werewolves in different cultures. My search led me to the legend of the Ulfhednar.
The Ulfhednar were certain men in the Viking community. They would wear the skin of wolves, and paint their skins black. They would train to the point where pian didn't really affect them, making the much stronger. The would go in a state if frenzy, berserking it is none as, and would become wolf like. From what I found they only way they could be killed is targeting the head. Anything else won't faze them at all. That in short is the Ulfhednar.
I decided to use this approach, but instead of men in wolf skins, there are going to be like the Egyptian God Anubis. Combing those two can make a very terrifying humanoid. I will go more into how this happened as I progress the story. I have an idea, but haven't planned it out yet.
The main character is a dhampir, half-vampire, half-human. They carry the traits of a vampire, but aren't really affected by them because of the human blood in them. This character is a young woman that witnessed the death by her parents, by the hand of the Ulfhednar. As the story progress the reasoning behind this will be revealed. The other character will be a young man that joins the hunter group as a bodyguard. He has a secret that could help end the Ulfhednar for good.
So with that info in mind I would like to share with you the first chapter of The Night They Came. As I said it is a work in progress.

I woke to the sound of people running up and down the hallway in the little abandoned Motel we found. I groggily looked at my watch and saw it was nine in the morning. I quickly sat up and jumped out of bed. “Why didn’t anyone wake me?” I said to myself as I pulled on my dirty jeans with holes and slipped on my dirty black sweatshirt.
I ran into the bathroom and brushed my long black hair into a ponytail. My dark blue eyes stared back at me with the sadness they always hold. Until certain things are taken care of my eyes will always have sadness.
“Knock, Knock.” I heard my friend Alexia say as she came into my room.
“Morning Alexia.” I grumbled as I came out of the bathroom. “Why wasn’t I woken up at seven?” I asked as I packed my duffel bag and then looked over my maps.
“Trixie I knew you were up until four this morning. Dan told that me you were still up when it was my turn to take over the night watch. As your doctor I say you need some rest.” She glared at me with her green eyes.
“I know what you are Alexia and you know what I am. I am the leader of this group and I have to be prepared to take of you guys when disaster hits. I can’t be caught off guard and not be prepared. Besides I am a dhampir so I don’t need as much sleep as the rest of you.”
“I DON”T care if you are a dhampir! Since you are a dhampir that still makes you half human. Being half human means you still need sleep like the rest of us.” She pulled back her red curly hair and grabbed a bottle from her bag.
“Right now we can’t argue about this. I know you mean well, but I must put all of you first like a leader should and make sure we are safe. Looking at the list of things we have I can clearly see that we need to get some supplies soon and ammo as well.” I said.
“I was going to talk to you about that as well. Here take your blood capsule.” She gave me a red pill and a water bottle.
“What do you need to tell me?” I asked as I took the capsule.
“I just got off the cell phone with a refugee camp nearby. They need a little help unpacking the trucks that just came in. They asked us to come and help and in return they will give us supplies as well. They even said they can talk to National Guard about getting us some ammo and such things.”
“Will we be the only ones there?”
“No, they have asked other groups to come and help.”
“Good because I need to talk to the other leaders.”
“See all your troubles are solved.” She gave me a smile.
“For now.” I sighed. “Where’s Dan?”
“Oh I was also going to tell you that. He is talking to a new recruit for the bodyguards.”
“A new one, eh?” I looked at her. “Since my radio is dead can you get him to come and see me?”
  “Ya sure.”
“Also get the other section leaders to meet me here in thirty minutes. We need to discuss about us going to the refugee camp.”
“I am on it. I also need to go check on some patients and see who can go on with us or who has to stay at the refugee camp.”
“You go do that. I don’t want to worry about them if we do get attacked by Ulfhednar.”
“I will see you in thirty minutes Trixie.”

~

“Alright newbie there are rules that need to be followed.” The big guy said to me.
“Okay.” I said as I watched people go back and forth in the hallway.
“One important rule that you must know right now is you not to go out by yourself. Only our leader can do that even though I do not like it when she does.”
   “Why is that?” I asked.
A crackled was heard in the radio on his hip, “Hey Dan, Trixie wants you to bring in the new guy to her room. Also there will be a meeting in thirty minutes.”
He picked the radio up, “I am heading over to her room right now.” He put it back where it was and ran his hand through his brown hair. “Well change of plans. I was going to take you to meet your bodyguard buddy, but Trixie wants to meet you first.”
   “Trixie?” I said.
“Ya she is the leader of this group.” He turned to me, “You do know what this group is called right?”
“Yes, I do. This is Ulfr Veiðimaðr. The top group who has taken down more Ulfhednar than anyone else.”
“Yes, and sadly it has come with more deaths than the others.” We came to a door that had the number 100 on it in fading gold letters. “Well this where she is.” He opened the door and we went in.
The room had maps scattered everywhere, on the tables, on the dresser, even the bed was covered. In the middle of this map chaos stood a young woman with long black hair and sad blue eyes. While her eyes were sad, her body language said otherwise. She had that look of some very threatening and could kill you with one swing of her arm. She clearly was someone in power and focused on making sure others were safe.
“Oh Dan good Alexia got hold of you.” She said not looking up from the map she pondering over.
“Ya she did. Here is the new guy.”
She looked up at me and just nodded. “Welcome to the group. What’s your name?” She came over to us.
   “Set, ma’am.” I said.
“Set? A very unusually name.” She circled around me, “So you want to be a bodyguard?”
   “Yes.”
“Well like the rest of us you are going to start from the bottom. I will be putting you with charge of protecting the medics. It may be the lowest to some, but without the medics half of the people wouldn’t be here. If we lose them than we are all in trouble.” She stopped in front of me. “Am I understood?”
I was taken aback by the tone she had, “Yes.” I stammered.
“Good.” She turned to Dan. “Take him to meet his partner and come right back here.”
“Yes Trixie.” He smiled at her. “Alright newbie time to meet your buddy.” He turned and we left the room.
When we were a little ways from her room I spoke to him, “Is she always that serious?”
“Sadly for the past four years, yes. There was a time when she was happier, and when she smiled. Man, how I miss her smile.”
   “You two a thing?”
“No, she is my cousin.” He looked a little grim there for a bit. “Anyway, unto the thing that is happening now. Eventually when you prove yourself you will get to move up. If you do really well you might find yourself in charge of protecting the section leaders and possibly Trixie.”
   “Who is her bodyguard now?”
“I am, there used to be two of us, but he got wounded by the Ulfhednar and ended up dying. She doesn’t really need two bodyguards, but it is just a precaution.”
“Why doesn’t she really need two bodyguards?” I asked as we approached a door.
“One word and that will take you from there. Dhampir.”
   “Dhampir?”
“Yup and this is where I will leave you. Wish I could talk longer, but there is a meeting I need to go attend.”
I watched him and I just stood by the door. “What is a dhampir?”

Hopefully you enjoyed it. Let me know what you think.
